Staging Your Albuquerque Home

When you're selling your house, first impressions matter more than you think. And if you really want to entice buyers both in-person and online, then it's crucial to spruce up every inch of your home to perfection. Staging might seem like a time-consuming task, but it's actually not as difficult as you might think—just a few small changes can really impact a sale!

Ready to get started? Here are a few easy ways to stage your Albuquerque home and wow buyers!

Start on the Outside

Create curb appeal

If a buyer doesn't like what they see on the outside of your home, they may never make it inside! Take some time to evaluate your curb appeal and make a few improvements, if necessary. We recommend powerwashing your exterior, adding some low-maintenance landscaping, clearing away debris, and tackling any lingering repairs.

Welcome buyers inside

Even if it's small, your front porch should make buyers eager to step inside and see more of your home. Try adding some character with a decorative wreath, a welcome mat, or even a table and chairs, if space allows. If you don't have a lot of room, you can always repaint your front door or swap out your porch light for a more updated fixture.

Don't neglect your backyard

The front of your home is definitely important, but you shouldn't neglect your other outdoor spaces. Spend some time sprucing up your backyard—this could include removing brown patches from your lawn, incorporating some new landscaping, or making sure your patio, deck, porch, or balcony is in tip-top shape.

Clean & Repair

Brush up on maintenance

Let's face it—almost everyone has a lingering to-do list of projects that need to get done. And while you may be comfortable putting them off, many buyers won't want to take on any extra fixes. Make sure your home is move-in ready by handling any repairs before you list. And if you aren't sure what needs to be done, try having a home inspection.

Clear out some clutter

Clutter can make a home feel smaller and less inviting, which is a huge turn-off for buyers. Take some time to clear away your extra stuff, and pay careful attention to your closets, shelves, and cabinets. If you know you have a lot you need to get rid of, consider renting a storage unit or donating any items you no longer use to a local charity.

Deep clean

Nobody wants to tour a dirty home, so break out the cleaning supplies and scrub down every inch of your space before you list. Be sure to give a little extra attention to high traffic areas, like kitchens and bathrooms. And if you want to take your home to the next level, consider hiring a professional cleaning service or even steaming your carpets.

Do a Little Decoration

Buyers will  try to visualize themselves in your space, but that can be a bit difficult with personal decor or bright colors in every room. Now is the time to take down any family photos, add a fresh coat of neutral paint, and remove any bold accessories. When in doubt, just keep things looking clean and simple!

Lighten up... your rooms

Adding more light can completely transform a room, so don't be afraid to throw back those drapes and let the sun shine in! Natural light is always best, but for rooms that don't get a lot of sunlight, you can still add more light by using high wattage light bulbs, incorporating more lamps and light fixtures, or hanging a mirror on the wall.

Add some seasonal decor

Seasonal decor can transform a neutral room into a welcoming space, so feel free to add a few splashes of color. Fresh-cut flowers in spring, a bowl of seashells in summer, a pumpkin in fall, or a wreath in winter will add an element of warmth to your home. Just make sure to keep things tasteful and don't overdo it!
